An Alaskan Way to Give
More than 33,000 Alaskans gave away part of their Permanent Fund Dividends last year to charitable organizations including The Salvation Army.
Last year, The Salvation Army received $31,950 in donations through Pick.Click.Give. Donors included former First Lady Bella Hammond, who explained that she chose The Salvation Army because she is familiar with its reputation. “The Salvation Army helps so many people in Alaska,” said Hammond. “I hear many comments that people have great faith in The Salvation Army, and it does so many wonderful things in our state.”
Another donor, Salvation Army Cordova Outpost Officer Robbin Swales, has firsthand knowledge of how her community is helped by The Salvation Army’s programs. “I am blessed to even be considered for this dividend,” said Swales. “To be given the opportunity to give a portion of it directly to a specific Corps is even more of a blessing!”
Also among the donors were entire families, with each member supporting The Salvation Army through Pick.Click.Give, and donors who choose The Salvation Army year after year.
It’s an easy way to start a family tradition of giving, with benefit back to your own community. A sincere thank you to all who Picked, Clicked and Gave to The Salvation Army last year.
