Bell ringers needed
It is that time of year when you will start seeing The Salvation Army Red Kettle Bell Ringers at various location around the Anchorage and Mat-Su area. Through The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign we are able to help hundreds of thousands of children in need by providing meals, shelter, clothing and school supplies. We are also able to provide nearly 10 million people with a warm comfortable place to sleep through our vast network of facilities.
This year’s campaign is centered around volunteers giving just one day to ring the bell for those in need. Volunteering for just one day can change a life. Volunteering for one day helps The Salvation Army provide 333 hot meals, 40 beds on a freezing night, five families with a month of food, three kids with a summer camp experience, 10 families with holiday meals and 13 kids with Christmas gifts. We are asking, can you and your friend spare one day this holiday season to volunteer as bell ringers?
With hundreds of bell ringing shifts to fill you can imagine finding enough volunteers can be difficult. This is where you can help. We are asking for air time during your news cast or radio broadcast, space on your website or pages in your newspapers. Alaska Divisional Commander Major Mike Dickinson, Captain Peter Pemberton and Volunteer Coordinator Jaclyn Ellis are ready to answer your questions about the Red Kettle Campaign and spread the word about the need for volunteers. We can accommodate your request at our Anchorage location or we can visit you at your location.
Can you help us get this information out so we can make this bell ringing season one to remember. Feel free to call us at (907) 276-2515 or email ak.development@usw.salvationarmy.org.
