King’s Lake Camp Opens to Campers for Summer 2021
After experiencing a summer camp closure in 2020 due to COVID-19 precautions, The Salvation Army’s King’s Lake Camp is reopening for summer 2021. King’s Lake Camp will continue to host children ages 7-17 years old from throughout the state to take part in a King’s Lake Camp experience in the beautiful Mat-Su Valley. Many of the children who attend camp are first-time campers that do not have the financial means to attend summer camp for a week or come from the state’s foster care system. There are also campers who return to enjoy camp year after year.
King's Lake Camp provides children with the opportunity to learn new skills or improve upon old ones with a variety of activities such as archery, arts and crafts, boating, swimming, sports, fun, captivating, and age-appropriate Bible instruction and much more. In addition, our camps have nutritious USDA-approved meals and well-trained staff to ensure that the week a child spends at King's Lake Camp is one of the best they have ever had. Depending on which week they attend, a child can have a day filled with outdoor adventures, learn basic skills or master their current music skills or work to earn badges through skill-building.
Camps will be held on the following dates:
- June 25 – 29, Adventure Camp 1 (Ages 7-12)
- June 21 – 26, SAY Camp (Ages 7-12)
- June 28 – July 3, Music Camp (Ages 9-17)
- July 5 – 10, Adventure Camp 2 (Ages 7-12)
- July 12 – 17, Adventure Camp 3 (Ages 7-12)
- July 19 – 24, Teen Camp (Ages 13-17)
“We are so happy to be able to welcome back campers this summer after a year of long-distance learning for many and the difficulties that come with being cooped up inside,” said Captain Luke Betti, Divisional Youth & Candidates Secretary. “I’m looking forward to meeting new campers and providing a safe space for children to build new skills and meet new friends.”
