Matson Gifts The Salvation Army with Shipping for Annual Anchorage GIFT Event Supplies

Dec 22, 2020 | by Lessa Peter

Anchorage, AK – The Salvation Army is grateful to Matson, Inc. for its recent gift-in-kind of free shipping in support of the annual Anchorage GIFT event. “The Salvation Army is extremely grateful for the shipping received from Matson this year and the support we have received from the company and staff over the past several years,” said Captain Denice Delgado, Associate Anchorage Social Services Director for The Salvation Army. “Without our community supporters like Matson, The Salvation Army would have a much harder time providing basic needs and spreading Christmas joy to families in the most need.”

“Matson is pleased to support the Salvation Army’s annual GIFT program. This year, the level of need is high and it is more important than ever that the community comes together to help one another. We are thankful for the Salvation Army’s staff and other community members that made the GIFT program possible,” stated Bal Dreyfus, Senior Vice President of Alaska, Matson.

Families who participate in Anchorage GIFT receive Christmas gifts for children 0 – 14 years old and supplemental food for the whole family in Salvation Army food boxes and bags which were shipped by Matson’s Alaska shipping services. Thanks to the generosity of Matson, The Salvation Army did not have to incur the cost of shipping over 10,000 pounds from Tacoma, WA to Anchorage, AK.

The annual GIFT Christmas assistance event ends tomorrow, December 23. Due to increased need, the event has been extended an additional day on Wednesday, December 23, from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Northway Mall in Anchorage.  Volunteers are still needed! If you have some time to give, please contact Salvation Army Volunteer Coordinator Heidi Navarro at heidi.navarro@usw.salvationarmy.org or call (907) 339-3427. More information for the event can be found at salarmy.us/ANCgift.
