The Salvation Army Celebrates National Volunteer Week - 4/7-4/13
Anchorage, AK – The Salvation Army Alaska Division will be visiting organizations in and around Anchorage to thank volunteers and supporters with morning and afternoon treats during National Volunteer Week, April 7 – 13, 2019.
The Salvation Army will end National Volunteer Week with a Transformed Treasures free sneak preview on Friday, April 12, 2019, from 5 – 7 PM at The Salvation Army Anchorage Corps Community Center, 1701 C Street. The sneak preview will feature The Salvation Army Transformed Treasures auction and luncheon artist submissions for viewing and voting ‘Best Of’ categories. Artists who contribute to the event are Salvation Army volunteers and supports who donate their creations back to the army for auction to help fund critical community programs and services throughout Alaska.
Tickets for the fundraising auction and luncheon can be purchased online at alaska.salvationarmy.org. The auction and luncheon will take place Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, at the Egan Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage.
Every year, The Salvation Army has over three million volunteers help with anything and everything from fundraisers and program support to emergency disaster response and summer camp counseling. Last year, volunteers in Alaska served over 55,750 hours of their time, talent and resources to help forward The Salvation Army mission.
“The Salvation Army could not provide the amount of services we do in Alaska without the help of our volunteers and supporters,” said Major John Brackenbury, The Salvation Army Alaska Divisional Commander. “We have supporters who manage donation drives and fundraisers and volunteers who help with the everyday needs of programs and organizational fulfillment. These individuals who bless us are the heart of community we live in.”
