The Salvation Army partners with Rodeo Alaska to Raise Funds
MatSu Valley Wildfire Evacuee Recovery
Anchorage, AK –September 13-14, The Salvation Army will be fundraising to continue with recovery support of those affected by the recent wildfires in Alaska during the 9/11 Tribute Rodeo: September to Remember at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.
In the 12 days of emergency response to the MatSu Valley Wildfires, The Salvation Army provided 1,824 meals, over 300 hours of volunteer support, emotional/spiritual help, numerous snacks and beverages, clothing and household goods vouchers to those in need. Funds raised at the rodeo will go towards ongoing food assistance and helping replace household items, furniture and clothing for those affected by the summer’s devastating wildfires.
“Rodeo Alaska is proud to support The Salvation Army in what they do to help Alaskans in need,” said Rodeo Alaska Director Frank Koloski. “We hope Rodeo Alaska’s involvement in fundraising will provide The Salvation Army with the support needed to help those in need due to this summer’s wildfires.”
“It is a blessing to have community partners like Rodeo Alaska who so whole-heartedly support the mission of The Salvation Army,” said Major John Brackenbury, The Salvation Army Alaska Divisional Commander. “With the help of generous partners and community members, we can continue to support those in the most need.”
In the coming months, The Salvation Army will be working with the MatSu Valley’s Community Organizations Active in Disaster group to assess needs and provide support to those affected by the wildfires.
