THE SALVATION ARMY REOPENS ANCHORAGE FAMILY THRIFT STORE ON DIMOND
Salvation Army Family Thrift Store reopens after COVID-19 closure in March
Anchorage, AK – The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores in Anchorage have been closed since the afternoon of March 21 due to COVID-19 mandates. The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store Dimond location is re-opening in Anchorage on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at noon. All thrift store customers will be required to wear face masks to protect themselves and others.
The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store and Donation Center on Dimond is located at 500 E. Dimond Blvd., Suite 2, in Anchorage. The store and donation center will be open Wednesday – Saturday from 12 - 6 PM daily.
“We are thrilled to re-open our Dimond thrift store location to the community in a safe manner and get our employees back to work,” said Salvation Army Regional Retail Manager Oscar Shaw. “Our stores which help fund The Salvation Army’s social service programs in Anchorage have taken a plunge in donations due to the temporary closure, but we know our customers have been anticipating our reopening and we look forward to opening up fully stocked.”
“The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores in our state depend on sales to help fund numerous social service programs throughout Alaska,” said Major John Brackenbury, The Salvation Army Alaska Divisional Commander. “From providing after-school care in a safe environment for children to serving meals to vulnerability seniors, we are thankful to our loyal customers and those who choose to donate their gently used goods to our family thrift stores.”
The Northern Lights location in Anchorage remains closed until further notice. Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores located in other communities throughout Alaska will re-open as determined by local Corps Officers.
