The Salvation Army’s 21st Annual Season of Giving Takes Place Nov 21
The Salvation Army Alaska Division Celebrates Another Year of Giving to Alaska
Anchorage, AK – This year marks The Salvation Army’s 21st Annual Season of Giving and Red Kettle Kick-Off celebrating the past year of providing the Most Good to Alaskans in need. Over 350 Salvation Army supporters will gather at the Marriott Anchorage Downtown on Thursday, November 21, 2019, from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM to help kick-off the Season of Giving in Alaska.
The Salvation Army’s Season of Giving is an annual festive gathering and The Salvation Army Alaska Division’s largest fund-raising event of the year. This year, The Salvation Army is celebrating its 50 years of partnership with the Alaska National Guard to provide Operation Santa Claus to rural Alaskans. The annual operation visits rural communities in Alaska bringing Mr. and Mrs. Claus, gifts and ice cream sundaes for a community holiday celebration. This year, Operation Santa Claus will land in the rural communities of Napakiak and Tuntutuliak, Alaska.
“The Season of Giving provides our community supporters and donors with a more in-depth experience to what The Salvation Army does for Alaskans in need,” said Major John Brackenbury, The Salvation Army Alaska Divisional Commander. “The funds raised at this event truly helps us maintain operations that serve Alaskan communities year-round.”
Maria Downey with KTUU will also serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.
In other holiday news, The Salvation Army is still in search of red kettle bell ringing volunteers for various locations November 28 – December 24, 2019 and for Anchorage Neighborhood GIFT event volunteers for December 17-18, 2019. Volunteers can sign-up to help at alaska.salvationarmy.org.
