You're invited to

Dimond in the Rough

Sunday, October 13, 2019
2 - 4 PM
The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store on Dimond

501 E. Dimond Blvd., Anchorage, AK

You are cordially invited to participate as a 2020 Salvation Army Transformed Treasures artist!

Transformed Treasures 2020 planning is well underway and we are on the search for creative individuals to take part in our event as participating artists. We welcome new and returning artists to bring forth fresh ideas and quality goods that have been creatively transformed from thrift shop finds to auction off at our spring fundraising event.

Join us in the Fight for Good to raise funds for The Salvation Army’s critical social service programs in Alaska by putting your creativity to work! Our annual artist kick-off event, Dimond in the Rough, on October 13 will provide you an opportunity to meet other participating artists and collect your thrift store vouchers to be used to start your Transformed Treasures project.

Complete and submit the online artist registration form here to sign-up as a participating artist!

Once your form is received, vouchers good for use at any Salvation Army Family Thrift Store in Alaska will be available to you for selecting your materials for your transformed treasures creation. Your vouchers are good for up to $75 in thrift store purchases. Artist submissions are expected to be collected in April 2020.

The Salvation Army Transformed Treasures luncheon and auction will take place on May 9, 2019.

The Salvation Army's Transformed Treasures event

Saturday, May 9, 2020
11:30 am - 1:30 pm

The Salvation Army started Transformed Treasures 12 years ago with the intent to raise money for its programs in Anchorage while increasing awareness of The Salvation Army Family Stores. Using donated items from these stores, local artists and crafting gurus create new treasures to auction at the event. Sale of the auction items helps raise funds for The Salvation Army programs while promoting the recycling, refurbishing, and re-purposing of used goods.

The Salvation Army Transformed Treasures event has recruited an army of artists and hand craftsmen who stand behind this event. Over the past 12 years, 400 plus Salvation Army supporters have generously contributed their talents and energy to help The Salvation Army make Anchorage a better place to live.

We can only keep Doing the Most Good in our community with assistance from allies like you by our side. Your sponsorship at any level will help us continue to provide critical and lifesaving services to Alaskans in need. During the past decade, proceeds from this event have brought so much GOOD to our community: Families that did not have a home now have one; kids that were facing homelessness and uncertain futures are graduating from high school; neighbors who were suffering from mental health and substance abuse issues now have healthy families; and homebound seniors living in isolation now have peace of mind knowing that someone from The Salvation Army will knock on their door with nutritious food prepared every day.
